Spring 2017 Meeting Time: Fridays 5:00 PM in BLB060

We are a group of students at the University of North Texas in Denton. We focus on educating ourselves and others about the four fields of anthropology, and how they are relevant to our daily lives.
We spend our time giving back to our community (on and off campus), holding events for fellow students, and exploring new ways to have fun.

If you're at UNT, feel free to come hangout! All Anthro majors, minors, and enthusiasts are welcome. :)
Feel free to email us with any comments or questions - anthropeopleunt@gmail.com

November 2014: ASA Does It All

The semester is already almost over for ASA, but we still have lots to do! November is gonna be a busy one, and we're very excited about it. :)

November 12th, Wednesday (& all following Wednesdays until Finals Week): Volunteer at ODIS
Meet up at Opening Doors International Services (a non-profit the ANTH department has worked with for a long time) around 6:30pm. We'll be doing some after-hours volunteering - organizing, shredding, cleaning, filing, and whatever else the organization needs from us. Free coffee!
Address: 2200 N Bell Ave, inside the church

November 13th, Thursday: Meet An Anthropologist with Melissa Nelson
Melissa Nelson is a UNT instructor and will be speaking to ASA about what it is like to be an ethnographer. Come with questions, cameras, autograph books. No flash photography please. ;) 5pm in LANG 319

November 18th, Tuesday: Adopt-A-Block
We'll meet at Big Mike's at 5pm to carpool on over to our Adopt-a-Block spot, where we will complete our monthly "green" chore. Put on your closed-toe shoes and come help us clean up UNT!

November 19th, Wednesday: Bake Sale Fundraiser
Members: we need you! Contact an officer if you would like to get involved in baking goods for this fundraiser or overseeing the table during the event.
100% of funds raised will go to ASA so that we may continue catering to our members and keeping dues low cost. This event will start at 9am and go till about 3pm, or whenever we sell out. (And we ALWAYS sell out.) See ya on the second floor of Chilton!

November 20th, Thursday: Movie Night & Last Official Meeting!
Our last time in room LANG 319 for the semester! My, how time has flown. We will be viewing a documentary about Burning Man, and Meghan will supply an extremely interesting article concerning techno shamanism. I heard rumors of free popcorn..
5pm. Be there.

December Bonus:
December 5th, Friday: End of Semester pArTy - aka "Second Annual Christmas Sweater-Potluck ExtravaganzaTake a load off, and come hang out with fellow anthropology students before a week of finals. We're potluckin' it, so bring something to share! And wear a freakin' Christmas sweater - 'cause we like laughing at our friends' sweaters and if you don't wear a dorky Christmas sweater there will be no laughter. And that would really suck.

(Address to be shared at meetings & on our Facebook.)

Leavin' Fall 2014 with a bang, y'all. See ya Tuesday :)
